It’s always been one of the prime suspects in the search for potentially habitable worlds in our own solar system, and now NASA are hatching plans to research Jupiter’s moon Europa.
It’s often been speculated that large oceans are to be found beneath the moon’s icy landscape, and the space agency are looking to solve a number of issues before sending scientific equipment in its direction. Radiation-proofing and preventing contamination are the main stumbling blocks at the moment, but NASA are hopeful that the endeavour could yield fascinating results.
The agency are looking for suggestions towards the mission, with the ‘winning’ equipment designs to be announced some time next year.
All we can think of this morning is; All of these worlds are yours except Europa; make no landing there…
